Introduction to Machine Quilting Thursday SM/ALL

Introduction to Machine QuiltingMachine quilting is fun, and is more than using your machine to stitch the three layers of your quilt sandwich together. Learn about batting, thread and design choices for machine quilting, then practice using the walking foot and free-motion (darning) foot to machine quilt a 15 x 15 inch sampler of fill patterns.

Decorative Stitch Appliqué Friday SM/ALL

Decorative Stitch AppliquéMake a small wall hanging or a selection of small blocks which take full advantage of all those decorative stitches on your sewing machine. Using fusible appliqué and an assortment of as many threads as you care to bring and use, you'll see how versatile a single leaf pattern can be! The embroidery/ decorative stitches you use in this class can be adapted to your choice of other appliqué methods; we will use fusibles in class so that you can make a wide selection of appliquéd leaves during the class. The project samples can be used for a quilt, a garment or home decorating items.

Hawaiian Appliqué by Machine Saturday SM/ALL
Hawaiian Appliqué by MachineHawaiian quilts are beautiful in their symmetry and bold design, but hand appliqué is time consuming. You can use fusible web and satin stitching on your machine to create a Hawaiian-style masterpiece in a fraction of the time. In this class, you will make a small "sample" piece on which you will practice fusing and satin stitching a symmetrical design. Then you'll have a choice of one of four 18" block patterns provided by the instructor to begin a pillow top, small wall hanging, or begin a larger quilt. If you are very careful in cutting out your motif using Sarah's special methods, you can even end up with two blocks from one "top" fabric. Additional patterns for sale.
