Explore the many possibilities for creating texture through
the use of stitching and fabric manipulation. Using your favorite
vest pattern, make a vest and apply these exciting techniques
and embellishments. Fabric crimping, thread crimping, thread
fuzzies, bobbin curls, bobbin couching and Shisha circles
will be covered. Visuals to illustrate these techniques will
be shown.

You
will create a beautiful sampler which can be applied to a
garment, quilt block, pillow or small wall hanging. Exciting
techniques such as bobbin stippling, bobbin beading, bobbin
curls and bobbin stumpwork will be covered. Bobbin beading
actually gives the look of beading to the surface through
the use of heavy threads. You will explore the possibilities
with many exciting decorative threads. You must have an extra
bobbin case or be able to adjust the bobbin tension with a
screwdriver.

| Nature to Paper

Students
will create a foundation pieced backdrop for real leaves collected
from nature, transferred to image paper and then to fabric.
Students will learn the basics of foundation piecing as well
as the wonderful technique of transferring leaves etc. to
fabric through the use of image paper. Leaves have burned
edges and can be transferred onto sheer fabric, creating another
dimension in the piece. This is a wonderful way to capture
the beauty of nature. Judy will have a limited amount of China
silk, silk organza and hand dyed fabric for sale. $3 fee for
each image transfer sheet.

| Fabric Weaving |

You
will learn the fascinating technique of fabric weaving to create
interesting fabric for quilts and garments. Using 2 to 4 different
fabrics, decorative and couching threads, ribbons and yarns,
you will create an easy and fun sampler. The use of machine
decorative stitches and couching techniques will add excitement
to all your future quilting projects.
